THE FUTURE READINESS PROJECT

The Future Readiness Project is Coeur d’Alene Public Schools’ commitment to helping every student graduate confident, capable, and ready for their next step. Through meaningful experiences, self-discovery, and real-world learning, students build the skills and direction they need for life after high school.

What is the Future Readiness Project?

The Future Readiness Project is a four-year experience that helps Coeur d’Alene Public Schools students prepare for life beyond graduation—college, career, or any path they choose.

Beginning in 9th grade, students create a digital portfolio to showcase their growth in six key Core Competencies that support success in school, work, and life:

  • Character – Responsibility, empathy, and personal integrity

  • Collaboration – Working effectively with others

  • Communication – Listening, speaking, and writing with clarity and purpose

  • Content Knowledge – Applying academic learning to real-world situations

  • Creativity – Thinking innovatively and solving problems in new ways

  • Critical Thinking – Analyzing information and making informed decisions

Each year, students add examples of their learning and experiences, demonstrating growth in these areas. They also complete a Workplace Exploration Experience in Junior and Senior Year, where they connect with mentors and explore real-world careers to better understand their interests and future goals.

In their senior year, students present their portfolio, reflecting on how they’ve developed their skills, what they’ve learned about themselves, and how they plan to reach their postsecondary goals.

The Future Readiness Project empowers every student to graduate with confidence—ready to take their next step toward college, career, and lifelong success.
