College & Career Readiness Lessons
Throughout their four years of high school, students will complete a series of college and career readiness lessons in Xello — an online platform that supports career exploration, goal setting, and planning for life after graduation.
These lessons are designed to align with the Future Readiness Project and help students build the six Core Competencies: Character, Communication, Collaboration, Content Knowledge, Creativity, and Critical Thinking. In addition to the district's 6 core competencies, it aligns with the state college and career competencies.
Students will work on these lessons during designated classes and breakout sessions with the College & Career Department. Each lesson connects directly to real-world planning topics such as personality and career exploration, work values, program prospects, job interviews, choosing a college, and financial literacy.
If a student is not enrolled in a class on the Lake City High School campus that completes a particular Xello lesson during class time, they are responsible for completing it independently. After finishing the lesson, students must:
Save their results as a PDF, and
Upload the file to the correct section of their College and Career Readiness Portfolio in Xello.
By completing these lessons, students take ownership of their future planning and ensure their portfolio reflects both classroom learning and individual exploration, preparing them for life after high school.
