Grade 11 Future Readiness

Grade 11 is a year of focus and refinement within the Future Readiness Project. During junior year, students use their growing self-awareness and exploration from earlier grades to begin narrowing options, setting clearer goals, and engaging in more purposeful planning for life after high school.

Students will continue strengthening their portfolios, participate in College and Career Readiness activities focused on pathway planning and decision-making, and upload artifacts that demonstrate increased depth, ownership, and real-world application across the six Core Competencies.

Progression Focus:
Grade 9 — Who am I?
Grade 10 — What matters to me, and where could that lead?
Grade 11 — What is my plan, and how do I move toward it?

Grade 9 Checklist

Grade 11 Expectations Include:

  • Complete Grade 11 College & Career Readiness activities
In Grade 11, students shift from broad exploration to evaluating real post-secondary options. Through the Choosing a College activity, students examine what matters most to them in a potential college or university and use that information to assess how well different schools align with their goals, priorities, and plans.

    Students will:

    • Identify the factors that are most important to them in a post-secondary school

    • Investigate how specific colleges or universities align with those priorities

    • Reflect on how each option supports their academic, personal, and career goals

This activity helps students move beyond name recognition and rankings to make informed, personalized post-secondary decisions as they refine their plans for life after high school.

  • Workplace Exploration Experience

As part of the Future Readiness Project, students are expected to complete a minimum of 5 hours of work experience prior to the start of senior year. This experience helps students connect classroom learning to real-world skills and explore potential career interests in an authentic setting.

Work experience may include job shadowing, workplace tours, and interviews with professionals in their field of interest. Students will reflect on their experience and may use it as evidence within their Future Readiness Portfolio.

  • Upload one artifact for each Core Competency
Students will continue refining their Future Readiness Portfolio, expanding on work from Grades 9 and 10 with artifacts that demonstrate increased depth, ownership, and connection to post-secondary goals.
