POSITION: GROUNDS WORKER (40 hrs/wk, benefitted)
Maintenance Department, Various School Buildings/Departments
JOB GOAL: The primary function of an employee in this class is to perform maintenance, repair, inspection, and service work on School District grounds, including equipment, machinery, irrigation systems, and related systems. When not working on the grounds, an employee in this classification may perform other work of the Maintenance Department. Duties include mowing and fertilizing grounds, snow removal, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems.
QUALIFICATIONS: Some experience working as a Grounds Worker preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
Maintains and cares for school grounds. Mows lawn with hand or power mower. Mows turf using walk behind or riding mowers and weed eats around trees, fences, sign posts, etc.
Plows snow from parking lots and driveways and spreads sand, salt, or deicer to prevent slipping. Availability for snow removal 24/7, sometimes on an “on-call” basis provided prior time off was not approved.
