National School Bus Safety Week is October 21-25, 2024. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is urging drivers to slow down and be aware of school buses and school zones in their communities. Coeur d'Alene School District bus drivers will be reviewing proper emergency evacuation procedures throughout the week with their students.
We also will be accepting submissions for our district Safety Week Poster Contest.
(2024 Idaho School Bus Safety Poster Contest Winner, Jami Bott)
The centerpiece of National School Bus Safety Week is the Poster Contest. Thousands of school districts in over 40 states participate in local and state-level competitions to select artwork that depicts school bus safety-related themes and encourages and promotes school bus safety. The winning posters are used to promote safer school transportation for everyone.
We will be taking submissions for the poster contest until October 28th. The winner will be announced on November 1st and their winning poster will be sent on to the state competition. This year's theme is: Safety First- Safety Always.
Entries will need to follow the poster submission guidelines and complete the submission form (https://www.napt.org/postercontest)
Students can give their poster submission to a school bus driver or drop it off at the Transportation Office at 121 E Poplar in Coeur d'Alene. #schoolbussafetyweek
