Venture Academy is proud to celebrate Makenzie Kiger as the Sunrise Rotary Senior of the Month for November. Makenzie is known on campus for her dedication, positivity, and perseverance, earning praise from staff and students alike. Teachers describe her as “smart, funny, kind, and hardworking… She has a great, positive attitude and is appreciative of her teachers. It is a blast to have her in class.”
Kenzi’s journey through high school reflects determination and personal growth. She shared that there was a time she doubted she would graduate and even stepped away from school for six months. After years of working through mental health challenges and learning to believe in herself, she found the confidence to keep going. Kenzi credits the supportive environment at Venture—teachers like Mr. Mahoney, Mr. Levy, Mrs. Cysewski, Mr. Vaughan, and Caryn at the front desk—for pushing her to do her best.
“It doesn’t matter what others think,” she explained. “You can’t give up. You have to persevere through.”
Kenzi is also grateful for the friendships she’s made at Venture. She says the students here truly care about one another, and many have made a lasting impact on her life. She also thanks her mom and sisters for supporting her every step of the way.
After graduation, she plans to attend the Paul Mitchell School to pursue cosmetology, inspired by her passion for hair, nails, skin, and makeup. Though she knows the path ahead won’t be easy, she’s confident that belief in herself will take her where she wants to go.
Congratulations, Makenzie! Venture Academy and Sunrise Rotary proudly honor your hard work, spirit, and determination. We can’t wait to see where your talent and perseverance lead you next.
