Thanksgiving table decoration with grateful hands placemats

Teacher having meal with students

Nearly thirty years ago a tradition was started at Project CDA where turkeys were donated, the culinary class helped prepare a meal, and students were invited to sit down to a Turkey Dinner served by the staff.  While the school name has changed a couple of times, and health rules have changed how the meals could be served, the tradition has continued.  In preparation for the meal, The Advisory classes discussed table etiquette including proper topics of discussion, and then helped the Leadership Class with the table decorations by creating placemats showing what they are grateful for.  One of the highlights of the meal is the chance for the staff to dress up and sit with the students and enjoy conversations outside of the academic walls.
