Hola! My name is Mrs. Duarte.
This is my second year as the Spanish instructor here at Sorensen!
Your children learn Spanish vocabulary and grammar through songs, music, movement, games, and various visual aids. They also learn about the geography and cultures of the Hispanic world.
This is a great time for your child to begin learning a foreign language. I like to compare children to “sponges” when it comes to language absorption, and the earlier they start, the greater their success.
Please encourage your child to talk about the new words and songs they have learned in class.
I also invite students to explore a variety of Spanish books available at the school library.
As a Spanish native speaker, I know firsthand about the challenges of learning a new language. It will never be 100 percent easy; nothing truly worthwhile is, but it can definitely be enjoyable and successful!
