I absolutely love what I do.  I feel extremely blessed to work at an arts integration magnet school.  From what we do every day INSIDE the classroom, to what opportunities are available to students outside of the classroom, Sorensen is a really, really great place for learners.  As we navigate these constantly changing times, I look forward to your partnership in growing your child academically through high expectations, accountability, hard work, fun, agency, and creativity.

My name is Shanna Marshall.  I have been teaching at Sorensen since 2006.  I have taught 3rd, 4th, and now 5th grade.  I am also the Glass Art Performance Team, TesserAe's, director.

I have been married to my best friend, John, since 1990, and we have raised our six amazing children in North Idaho.  We have 4 grown daughters and 2 grown sons who we are very proud of.  We have three amazing grandbabes and 1 more due November, 2023!  Three of our children have gone through the Sorensen system and have had wonderful experiences.  In my "free time" (laugh laugh wink wink), I like to garden, cook, quilt, scrapbook, have coffee with friends, have fun with my family, watch movies, hike, and learn new things.  Some of my favorite things are country music, the ocean, milk chocolate, the color green, sunflowers, and any sugar-free coffee with cream.  I like things organized, but am flexible enough to let children have fun learning.  Want to know more?  Stop by and see me in Room 107!

At school, I have served as the Building Technology Leader, Co-WebMaster with David Groth, Arts and Humanities Technology and Glass Art instructor, Chair of the Uniform Committee, Arts and Humanities Leadership Team, Academic Leadership Team, Science Lead Teacher, and member of the Artist in Residency planning team.  I am passionate about arts integration, Workshop Model, science instruction, technology, curriculum and assessment best practices, and student engagement.  I have my A.A. from North Idaho College, B.S. from Charter Oak, and M.A. in Instruction from Drexel University.  I have my Information Technology and Reading Specialist Endorsements.  In 2019, I earned the Idaho Master Educator designation, and my next goal is to earn National Board Certification.  I am a lifelong learner who has discovered that every day holds something new to discover!  I look forward to working with you!

2023-2024 Specialists Schedule: Monday-PE, Tuesday- ART, Wednesday- MUSIC, Thursday- TECHNOLOGY, and Friday- LIBRARY.
