Creative Arts

Creative Arts is an opportunity for students to express themselves through different art mediums. As a group or independently, we learn different techniques as well as free style, hands on creating. We begin each lesson with a discussion and students are encouraged to share their unique vision or theme about the project. It’s always a pleasure to see students expressing their ideas. At times, when we engaged in art projects, we add music and lighting to evoke a mood or a theme.

We respect each other and our tools in this creative atmosphere, while encouraging each other and celebrating the uniqueness and the hard work and patience that goes into each art piece. We are excited to share and display our artwork for others to see.

About the Performance Team Director

Ronda Curry has an appreciation for all Art. She has experience creating and teaching curriculum to children, as well as instructing fine arts, creative arts, ceramics, theater, costuming, sewing, singing, dance, creative writing, script writing, script reading and on camera techniques.

In her community classroom, the art center was open all day, every day. She observed that students showed a great appreciation when allowed creative expression throughout the day. This freedom gave students a place to calm and get in touch with their feelings. It also gave them practice, an appreciation for art, and a sense of ownership and a responsibility for the art center. The curriculum Ronda creates is open-ended, allowing the children to take part in the ideas and themes of their projects.

Ronda has an Associate’s Degree in Early Child Education through Everett Community College. She also holds a Certification in Screenwriting through the University of Washington.
