Welcome to the Advanced Learning Program (ALP) at Sorensen where we have classes in Math and English Language Arts (ELA) for 3rd-5th Grade.

I am delighted to serve as your child's teacher, advocate, and coach. This is my 23rd year in the district and through that time my educational passion has been to advocate for our advanced learners by having them connect their aptitude to their talent; to grow in their learning and their artistic endeavors, and find ways to celebrate the unique individual they are.

ALP is a rigorous program that closely works with the child’s homeroom teacher by igniting and celebrating their learning style through the core grade level curriculum and aims to provide advanced work that celebrates the child where they are academically, socially, and emotionally.

We study Latin Stems, read novels during the year, attend the Math is Cool competition for 4th and 5th grade where we have consistently placed in 1st or 2nd, celebrate PI day, and have way too much fun learning about math and reading. Your child is honored through their distinct learning style and it is my goal and passion to make sure they are recognized.

I have received my Masters Degree in Education with a license in Gifted and Talented Education from the University of Idaho. I am actively involved in the ITAG (Idaho Talented and Gifted Association), lead the Elementary Student Advisory Group for our district, direct our choir “Canto de Sorensen”, and lead the Chess Club. I am fortunate enough in my career to be able to combine all of the things that I am passionate about at Sorensen.
