Reminder! Some of our schools will serve as polling places for the general election, so Tuesday, November 5, 2024 is a non-school day for students. Local officials expect a high voter turnout so it’s best not to hold classes that day to ensure a safe environment for voters and students. Dear Parents, Welcome to the beginning of the Kindergarten school year at Skyway Elementary! We are excited to embark on this educational journey with your child and create a balanced and enriching experience for everyone to welcome our newest Eagles. Before we start, we are asking parents to complete the student survey prior to August 23rd. Then to start off the year, we have organized a special event called Balanced Beginning for our incoming Kindergarten class, which includes a Parent Meet and Greet on Wednesday at 9:05 in “The Cove” which is near the office. Skyway’s Kindergarten school year will start with what we refer to as a “Balanced Beginning” for Kindergarten. For the 2024/25 school year, the first week of school (September 3-6) will have a 12:30 release for students in Kindergarten. This program allows your child to acclimate to this big change and take on a lot of new responsibilities and information in a less stressful environment. This will allow for the students to take part in the regular lunch routine, but possible rest at home in the afternoon. You will find the first month can be a lot for our new Eagles, and we want to partner with you in this process. Tentative class lists will be available at Open House. Open House will be August 28th, from 4:30-6:00. We encourage you to come to Open House. Please note that the class lists are subject to change during the first few weeks of school as we assess the dynamics and needs of each student. We aim to create well-balanced classrooms that foster a positive learning environment for all children. Teachers will contact parents if a change is needed. This ensures that your child is appropriately placed in a class that meets their individual strengths and areas of growth. Our dedicated team of teachers will provide a nurturing and supportive environment to help ease the transition into kindergarten. If you have registered your child for transportation, Kindergarten students can start riding to school on the first day. The district will not provide transportation home for the first week, Tuesday through Friday, due to the 12:30 dismissal. We understand that starting Kindergarten can be an exciting and sometimes overwhelming experience for both children and parents. Rest assured that our school is committed to ensuring a smooth and successful beginning for every student. We will do our best to address any concerns or questions you may have throughout the year. We look forward to meeting you and your child during Open House, the Parent Meet and Greet and to begin a fantastic Kindergarten year ahead. Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. Again, we welcome your family and newest eagles to our Skyway community. We will SOAR together! Skyway Kindergarten Team and Mrs. Runyan, Principal https://secure.smore.com/n/tga6k

Hard work by district leadership at many levels helped to balance what would have been a $6 million 2024-25 fiscal year budget shortfall in the Coeur d'Alene School District.
