About the Replacement Levy

This November, voters who live inside the Coeur d'Alene School District boundary will be asked to consider a two-year, $25 million supplemental levy which will provide funding to maintain crucial support for the district's educational programs and services that are not funded by the state.

  1. This levy isn't a new tax. It replaces the current two-year, $25 million levy the community passed in May 2023, and expires on June 30, 2025.

  2. The levy funds 25% of the district's overall operations. The vital programs and services funded by our community-supported levy are captured by category in the graphic below.

Financial Implications

The annual taxpayer cost to support the district’s current $25 million levy is $93 per $100,000 of taxable assessed property value.

The two-year, $25 million supplemental levy on the November 5 ballot replaces our existing levy which expires on June 30, 2025.

Based on current conditions, if voters approve the replacement levy on November 5, we don't expect the levy rate per $100,000 of taxable assessed property value to change.

Impact on Our Schools

Funds generated from the replacement levy will enable our schools to maintain the current high standards for academic performance and the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Specifically, the levy funds will make it possible to continue our amazing sports programs and extra curricular activities, employ school safety officers and nurses, and provide salaries and benefits for 300+ staff members.

If the levy passes, we will be able to maintain:

  • Sports and extracurricular activities

  • Music, art, and theater programs

  • 100+ teachers and 200+ additional staff

  • 13 School Resource Officers (SROs)

  • 10 Registered School Nurses
