So pleased to announce that our High School Teacher of the Year for 2024-2025 is James Anderson, Spanish teacher at Lake City High School.
From Mr. Anderson's nomination form:
"Mr. Anderson creates the classroom environment that both the instructor and students can thrive in. He cares about student’s learning and the class is about STUDENTS. His class Mission is: “Be better, Be different.” And his vision is: “Make our time together the best part of our day.”
When asked about engaging students in learning, Mr. Anderson stated, “If I were to define my philosophy of teaching in a statement it would be this, “Make your lessons/classroom far more interesting than the distractions. I strive to make every day so engaging that it’s the topic of everyone's dinner conversation. I thrive on the fact that students can’t wait to come to my class.”
He approaches education with 3 core values are Connectedness, Confidence and compassion. He instills in his students that if things aren’t going well for them…make things go well for someone else and turn your focus outward in a selfish world.
Mr. Anderson’s classes are rigorous. This is intentional. He believes that if you make practice harder than the “game” and keep the classroom learning standards far higher than standard assessments, students will rise to the challenge and confidently succeed."
