Hocker

As we enter this season of gratitude, I find myself reflecting on how fortunate we are to live in a community that stands firmly behind its public schools. Every day in our classrooms, hallways, gyms and performance spaces, I am reminded of why our schools are strong: a teacher offering encouragement, a coach helping students learn to work with a team, a staff member guiding a student through a tough day.

None of this happens by chance. It happens because our community believes in giving children a strong foundation and the opportunities they need to build meaningful, successful futures.

Thanks to your support, our district has achieved remarkable milestones. We are second in the state among larger districts for overall academic performance — an achievement rooted in the dedication of our teachers and staff, the determination of our students and the high expectations our families and community hold for education.

Our classrooms are full of curiosity and hard work, from young learners discovering the joy of reading to high school students taking advanced courses that prepare them for what comes next.

Our students also shine beyond academics. We are home to champion athletic teams that compete with heart and sportsmanship. Our staff continues to earn regional and statewide recognition for excellence.

We celebrate National Merit Scholars whose academic achievements place them among the very best in the nation, as well as first-generation high school graduates whose courage and perseverance set a new path for their families. These successes remind us that when students feel supported and valued, they accomplish incredible things.

A major reason we can offer these opportunities is because our community continues to support our levy. That investment helps sustain the programs and services families count on — robust academics, arts and music, athletics, career and technical education, extracurricular activities, school safety officers and resources, school nurses and mental health programming, and the dedicated staff who make our schools welcoming places to learn.

These aren’t extras. They are essential components of a well-rounded education and the reason students across our district can explore their interests, develop their skills and prepare confidently for the future.

I am most proud that each of our 17 schools, with their own personalities, traditions and caring teams, is dedicated to making sure every student has a place to belong. Whether a student finds their stride in advanced academics, hands-on career pathways, the arts, athletics or by connecting with the right mentor, we are committed to meeting students where they are and helping them move forward with confidence.

Our community holds fast to the basics: strong teaching, safe schools, responsible stewardship of resources and honest partnerships with families. These values guide us and keep us grounded. I am grateful for the trust you place in our schools and the support you continue to provide.

Thank you for believing in our students, our staff and the promise of public education done well. Together, we will continue building a strong foundation for every child in our community.
