Welcome to one of the most incredible years your child will have in their school career!  My name is Melinda Hennig and I've been a teacher in the Coeur d'Alene district for 26 years.  I have a husband, two adult daughters and two Brittany spaniels named Sawyer and Ruby.  When I'm not teaching, you can find me reading, gardening, birding, or traveling.  I love to explore new places and share my experiences with my students.  

First grade is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is a year of important transitions, as well as one in which acquisition of new skills is accelerated. First graders develop fundamental work habits, appropriate social behavior, problem solving and decision-making skills and, of course, academic skills. The growth in first grade is extraordinary. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
