Grade 10 Future Readiness

Grade 10 builds on the foundation established in Grade 9 and focuses on deepening self-understanding and purposeful exploration. During sophomore year, students use the Future Readiness tools and Core Competencies to begin connecting personal interests, values, and strengths to potential education and career pathways.

Students will continue developing their portfolios, complete College and Career Readiness activities centered on values and post-secondary options, and add more intentional artifacts that reflect growth across the six Core Competencies.

Progression Focus:
Grade 9 — Who am I?
Grade 10 — What matters to me, and where could that lead?

Grade 9 Checklist

Grade 10 Expectations Include:

  • Continue building the Future Readiness Portfolio

Students continue developing their Future Readiness Portfolio, adding more thoughtful reflections and connections as they build on the foundation established in Grade 9. The portfolio remains a living document that grows each year.

  • Complete Grade 10 College & Career Readiness activities
Grade 10 College & Career Readiness activities help students move from self-awareness to informed exploration by examining what motivates them and how those values connect to future education and career options

    • Work Values – Students identify intrinsic and extrinsic motivators, explore personal work values, and examine how those values align with careers and professionals in the field.

    • Program Prospects – Students research education and training pathways, compare post-secondary options (such as apprenticeships and degree programs), and evaluate which pathways align with their strengths, interests, and goals.

  • Upload one artifact for each Core Competency
By the end of Grade 10, students will upload one new artifact demonstrating growth in each of the six Core Competencies:

    • Character

    • Collaboration

    • Communication

    • Content Knowledge

    • Creativity

    • Critical Thinking

Grade 10 artifacts should reflect greater intentionality and connection to future planning than Grade 9.
