Eighth-grader Tatum Oakland mastered an impressive 184 vocabulary words, helping the Canfield Middle School Cougars capture the Vocabulary Bowl championship.
As a team, Canfield’s eighth-grade students mastered 7,062 words—the highest total in the entire state of Idaho.
Strong individual performances also came from Lisa Sanchez, who finished second with 130 words, and Bode Hermes, who had 114 words.
Mastering English fundamentals is a cornerstone of academic success across the district, and eighth-grade English teachers Jodi Booth and Madison Smith praised their students’ dedication and effort.

“Tatum just killed it,” said Booth. “They all worked extremely hard to win the Vocabulary Bowl.”
Way to go, Cougars!
