The Coeur d’Alene School District Board of Trustees voted to appoint Rick Rasmussen as the interim trustee for Zone 1 during a special board meeting held Monday evening.
Rasmussen will fill the vacancy left by Allie Anderton and will serve through December 31, 2025. His interim term will conclude following the November 2025 election, when voters will choose a trustee to fill the seat for a four-year term. He is expected to begin his service after he is sworn in at the July 14 regular meeting.
A lifelong resident of Coeur d’Alene and a proud graduate of Coeur d’Alene Public Schools, Rasmussen brings deep community roots and a strong commitment to public education. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Northwest Specialty Hospital in Post Falls, where he has been a leader in expanding access to high-quality healthcare in North Idaho.
“Rick’s thoughtful perspective, dedication to our students and families, and business acumen make him a great addition to the board,” said Rebecca Smith, Board Chair. “He understands the importance of strong public schools and brings valuable leadership experience that will serve our students, schools, and the district well.”
Beyond his professional role, Rasmussen has been a dedicated supporter of public education for many years, actively volunteering his time and expertise to support student achievement and success. He has sponsored numerous career exploration opportunities and has long been an advocate for strengthening ties between schools and the broader community.
