Greenhouse at Ramsey

Ramsey Magnet School of Science now has a greenhouse thanks to generous donations from the community.

The new greenhouse can accommodate a class of 30 students, enabling them to grow, learn about and cultivate various types of plants.

“The fruits and vegetables raised in this greenhouse will be harvested for seeds to continue the growing process as well as used to feed hungry families and students,” said Mandi Ferguson, a fourth grade teacher at Ramsey. “Our vision for this greenhouse started a couple of years ago. We wanted a place where our students could explore life sciences year-round.”

The Ramsey Magnet School of Science PTO raised $30,000 to get the project off the ground.

Many local businesses and groups donated money and countless hours bringing the greenhouse to life - from design to construction to materials to seeds.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our community partners!

The Coeur Group volunteered hundreds of hours physically constructing the greenhouse, working nights and weekends to bring the space to life.

Lowe’s Home Improvement donated more than $20,000 in materials and supplies.

Mike Beiter and the NVIDIA Foundation donated over $12,000.

HMH Engineering provided labor and time to survey the site and make sure the foundation pieces were level. They also helped pay for the concrete used in the foundation.

Interstate Concrete helped pay for concrete as well and poured it into place.

Northwest Specialty Hospital donated more than $2,000 to cover the cost of the greenhouse heaters.

The Coeur d’Alene Garden Club donated more than a year’s worth of seeds and $1,500.

Honeydew Handyman paid their workers to complete the project during the final stages.

The U.S. Forest Service Coeur d’Alene Nursery donated over 800 pounds of dirt to be used in garden beds outside the greenhouse.

New Leaf Nursery donated and delivered soil for the inside garden beds.

Poe Asphalt and Central Pre-Mix delivered at least 30 loads of gravel to his project.
