skyway elementary and lake city high school art students

Carrie Giao and Megan Beaudry recently participated in a collaborative project with Lake City High School's pottery students, led by former Skyway art teacher Dawn Myers. Inspired by the classic children's book, "Where the Wild Things Are," younger students designed their own monsters, including detailed descriptions of them, and the high school students brought the designs to life by sculpting them from clay.

The results were amazing! The high school artists visited Skyway to share the sculptures with the students who envisioned them. This project is a beautiful, creative example of our teachers and students collaborating across age groups. We love to see it! Great job to all!
