Student Advisory Group

We believe our students deserve to have a voice in how the school district provides for student learning and how our schools can be improved. That's why we created the District's first Student Advisory Group, that began in the fall of 2020.
We invited students in grades 2nd through 12th to apply to be part of this new Student Advisory Group. This allows the students an opportunity to work directly with the Superintendent and District administrators, and to collaborate to help provide solutions to issues most important to students.
Students that were selected (below) to be part of the advisory group meet regularly during the school year to discuss their interests, priorities and ideas for improving schools and student learning. Representatives of the group provide students in their schools with updates about School Board activities, and the Student Advisory Group chairperson will represent the group’s views to the School Board.
Attention: The Student Advisory Group is now accepting applications for 2024-2025 representatives. Students will meet once a month (with an optional second day a month) to plan for student engagement, voice student ideas, concerns, and feedback, and to ensure that the district office and school board are able to hear from students. Students who desire to represent their schools should be prepared to attend all meetings and be willing to share the concerns of their friends and classmates in a mature and responsible manner. Student SAG reps are the mouthpiece for the concerns and dreams of their school populations.
Interested students should fill out the application form electronically (or middle school or elementary may print it and deliver it to the front office of the school listed below) AND ask a teacher who knows you well to fill out an electronic (or printed) Teacher Recommendation form. (When asking a teacher to recommend you, please send them the link to the Teacher Recommendation Form via an email.)
Applications along with a teacher recommendation survey must be received by Friday, September 27th.
-High school student reps must turn in their application/teacher recommendation electronically.
-Middle School student reps can turn in their application/teacher recommendation electronically or by printing. Please deliver the printed versions to Lakes Middle School c/o Jeni Nelson.
-Elementary School student reps can turn in their application/teacher recommendation electronically or by printing. Please deliver the printed versions to Sorenson Elementary School c/o Charlene Babb.
