Curriculum Adoption

We need interested parents and patrons to participate in the adoption committee for Health and for World Languages. The deadline to apply is Monday, March 3, 2025. Parents and patrons can apply online here: Health Adoption Form and World Languages Form. Teachers of these content areas will also be joining these committees.

The tentative adoption timeline is:

  • March 10, 2025: Ask Board to seat committee at regular Board Meeting.

  • March 21, April 11, May 2, and May 9: Hold committee meetings

  • May 12: Ask Board to put out recommendations for review at regular Board Meeting

  • June 16: Ask the Board to approve materials upon completion of review.

Philosophy of Curriculum 

We believe each student deserves powerful learning in every subject, at every age, and in every learning environment. We believe each student can achieve at high levels, regardless of individual differences, gender, ethnicity, language, ability, or socioeconomic status. Our curriculum design teams strive to create a clear course of study that is based on these beliefs; is focused on student engagement and empowerment; is authentic, purposeful, equitable, and aligned; and is part of an ongoing cycle of improvement.

Idaho Content Standards

All students in Coeur d'Alene Public Schools will take coursework aligned with the Idaho Content Standards and measured through ongoing, embedded assessments. These standards are to be used as a minimum threshold by every school district in Idaho in order to establish some consistency in academic content statewide.

In many cases, course content in Coeur d'Alene may be more rigorous than these state content standards. Idaho reviews and revises, when needed, all content standards on a six year review/adoption cycle.

Katie Graupman

Curriculum Coordinator 

Katie has lived and worked in North Idaho most of her life. She taught English, journalism and dual credit with North Idaho College for several years in the Lakeland School District. She was Idaho's 2013 Milken Award winner and holds Bachelor's degrees in English and education and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Idaho. Katie was a coach for the Idaho Coaching Network for the Idaho State Department of Education before coming to Coeur d'Alene Public Schools. She is passionate about providing powerful learning experiences for every student. She lives with her husband and daughter in Coeur d'Alene.
