College & Career Preparedness

Our district's mission statement states that “we invest in each student to prepare, challenge and advance well educated, resilient, and future-ready citizens.”  With that goal in mind, students throughout the Coeur d’Alene School District will experience activities intended to highlight the skills necessary to join the workforce or attend their chosen universities upon graduation.  From Kindergarten to Senior year, buildings are encouraged to include small activities for College and Career Preparedness Day during the school day to discuss their own experiences in the workforce and during their time on a college or university campus while providing opportunities for students to learn new skills and apply their academic knowledge on a series of tests.

College And Career Preparedness

Students in the Coeur d'Alene School District achieve highly, even after their graduation.  Many matriculate to career preparation or colleges/universities throughout our country to pursue their goals.

During their time in our schools, students will have the ability to take courses in our Advanced Learning Program which begins in 3rd grade and advances to the Advanced Placement Program (AP) at each of our traditional high schools.  Currently, there are over 30 AP college-level courses and corresponding exams that students can take with the possibility of earning college credit in our district. Over 3,000 colleges accept the AP exams for college credit.

Additionally, students may choose to dual enroll at North Idaho College or other universities, allowing them to take college coursework in high school, while also meeting graduation requirements.  For more information on dual enrollment or other advanced opportunities, please contact your school counselor.
