Hello, parents and students!  

Welcome to Woodland Middle School 6th Grade Social Studies!  My name is Nola Shanley, and this is my 11th year as a Social Studies teacher at Woodland, but my 25th year as a Social Studies/Social Sciences classroom teacher. I earned both my BA degree in Social Sciences and my Secondary Teaching Credential from California Lutheran University. I have taught grades 6-12 over the course of 25 years, and I am still as excited about working with students as when I entered the profession in 1999!  I enjoy art, music, cinema, cooking, going to the gym, and spending time with my wonderful family. I am passionate about my subject, and I am especially intrigued and fascinated with the exploration of the very personal and human stories that Social Studies has to offer.  I am looking forward to an awesome year working with you and your students!
