I am excited to join Woodland Middle School, the Coeur d'Alene School District and to come back home. I am beginning my 21st year in education. I started in education as a classified staff member working in the office and one-on-one with students. I have taught ELA and Social Studies at the middle and high school level, an instructional coach, and most recently the principal of Union School, a 6-12 school in the Nampa School District. I am very excited to be returning to the middle school level. I look forward to providing a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment for the community at Woodland Middle School.

I have lived and worked for the past 18 years in the Treasure Valley, where I was born and raised. My husband and I began our lives together in Coeur d'Alene, his hometown. We are extremely excited to return to our roots and to be a part of the amazing community in Coeur d'Alene.

My name is Charisa Childress, and I am honored to introduce myself as the interim assistant principal. I am excited to be a part of this school community and look forward to working collaboratively with each of you to provide the best educational experience for your children.

A little about me: I have 24 years of experience in a middle school setting. I have also worked as an elementary assistant principal and the summer school principal for Lakeland Middle and High School. I am passionate about supporting both students and staff in creating a safe, nurturing, and challenging environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

As an assistant principal, my primary focus will be to ensure that every student has the support and opportunities they need to succeed. I believe in the power of strong partnerships between school and home, and I am committed to fostering an open line of communication with you. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.

Throughout this semester I will be actively working to ensure a positive and inclusive school culture where all students feel valued, respected, and motivated to do their best. I look forward to getting to know each of you and your children as we work together to achieve great things.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. I am excited for the journey ahead and am confident that, together, we can make this next semester a great one!
