Hello Winton families! My name is Brianna Birdsall and I'm so excited to be the counselor at Winton Elementary! I bring to Winton my love for children and families and a passion for serving others! I spent the 2017/2018 school year working as a school social worker for the Coeur d'Alene School District. Prior to that, I worked at Kootenai Health for four years, and was responsible for completing psychiatric assessments for adolescents and adults. My other work history includes case management for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (Children and Family Services) and Habilitative Intervention for adolescents and adults.
Winton's school counseling program supports the educational, social, emotional and behavioral growth of every student. A range of services are available to benefit the needs of each student including: individual counseling, crisis intervention, family support, consultation, collaboration, classroom guidance, small group lessons, and community referrals. Winton is becoming a trauma-informed school, where we support the needs of students and families who come from hard places and provide appropriate support and interventions for every child.
Students can be referred to the counselor in several ways. The most common referral is from a teacher or staff member. Students can also be referred by an outside community agency, family member or they can self-refer. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to arrange a time to talk, please do not hesitate to contact me.
