Welcome to Fifth Grade!

5th grade at Winton is a fun and challenging place to learn.

Thinking strategies and problem solving are incorporated into our learning activities throughout the day. We focus on mastering our reading strategies through non-fiction resources and literature studies. Learning to write well and spell correctly are critical skills for every learner.  We also spend time writing narratives, opinion essays, and factual reports. In math, we focus on mastering computation while using a variety of strategies, learn to apply compuation strategies to the world of fractions, and explore geometry, measurement and algebra.  We study the U.S.A. and the history of our country in Social Studies. In Science, we focus on the sun and earth, mixtures and solutions, living systems, and health. There are also opportunities for you to be a member of Special Chorus, Marimba and Strings.

We are a community of learners with many rights and just as many responsibilities. Our goal is always quality and excellence. We are living proof that hard work, done well, feels good!
