Principal's Message

On behalf of the faculty and staff, welcome to Venture Academy.

At Venture, we believe deeply in the potential of every student. We also recognize that there is no single path to success. Students come to us with different experiences, strengths, goals, and needs, and our job is to create a school where they can find success, build confidence, and prepare for what comes next.

Venture Academy serves students in grades 6–8 through our online program and students in grades 9–12 through both in-person and online learning options. Our smaller learning environment, flexible programming, and competency-based approach allow us to meet students where they are while maintaining high expectations for where they can go.

At Venture, learning is about more than earning credits or completing assignments. We want students to develop the knowledge, skills, habits, and confidence they will need beyond high school. That means learning to Show Up, Engage, Respect, Own It, and Grow. These expectations are at the heart of who we are and help students become more independent, responsible, and prepared for their futures.

Our competency-based approach recognizes that students learn at different rates and in different ways. We provide students with the time, instruction, feedback, and support they need to demonstrate learning while also expecting them to take increasing ownership of their progress. Our teachers work hard to create meaningful learning experiences that challenge students to think, communicate, problem-solve, and grow.

What makes Venture special, however, is our people. Our staff understands that strong relationships and high expectations belong together. We work to know our students well, recognize their strengths, challenge them when needed, celebrate their growth, and help them see possibilities for themselves that they may not have seen before.

Preparing students for the future is also a central part of our work. Whether a student's next step is college, career training, the military, employment, or another pathway, we want every Venture graduate to leave us with a plan, the skills to pursue it, and the confidence to adapt as that plan changes.

Families are an important part of that work. We value communication, partnership, and the perspective families bring to their student's education. We encourage you to stay connected, ask questions, celebrate progress, and reach out when challenges arise. The stronger the partnership between school, students, families, and our community, the better we can support our students.

I am incredibly proud of the staff at Venture and excited about what we are building together. Most importantly, I am excited about what is possible for our students.

Thank you for trusting us to be part of your student's journey. We look forward to a great year together.
