About The Teacher
Diane Eastman has dedicated nearly 25 years to the Coeur d'Alene School District, with the last 10 spent teaching at Venture High School. Her experience spans elementary school librarianship and special education in middle school. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her granddaughter and enjoys a variety of outdoor activities like hiking, swimming, boating, and kayaking. Diane also practices Pilates and attends yoga retreats. In her downtime, she enjoys reading and watching movies, comedies, and documentaries.
About The Class
The Young Adult Literature class offers students the opportunity to explore a wide range of contemporary and classic young adult works. Through critical analysis of themes, characters, and societal implications, students develop key analytical skills. The course integrates TBRI strategies to foster a supportive, safe environment. Students are encouraged to collaborate using discussion protocols to enhance their learning. By blending literary study with critical thinking skills, the class equips students with both a deeper understanding of literature and valuable life skills for future success.
