Hello Skyway families, 

I am so excited for the 2022-2023 school year! I will be teaching STEAM and ALP for grades 3-5. This will be my 8th year of teaching. I am excited to be joining such a wonderful staff, an awesome group of students, and a dedicated group of parents. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me at anytime. About Mrs. Taylor!
I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska! This is where i grew my passion for the outdoors. i love skiing, cycling, hiking, and camping. On the weekend I love to be with my family, relaxing, and diving into a good book! My family and i moved to the CDA area this past summer and so far we are loving it!

Education
I received my bachelors degree from the university of Colorado at  Colorado Springs in history and elementary education. After teaching for a couple of years in Colorado, I moved to the D.C. area, taught for four years and pursued a masters' degree from George Mason university in special education. My husband and I moved to Chicago, where I taught for 2 years and worked on my second masters in ESL and technology specialist courses. I will complete my second masters in December 2022. Woooohoo!

My Teaching Approach
I believe all students have the ability to reach their potential when they have their academic, social, and emotional needs met. I believe in a student-centered classroom, where the students' voice is the driving force within a lesson. I hope to encourage, excite, and engage learners on a daily basis through quality instruction, inquiry-based lessons, and integration of 21st century skills. Students who enter my class will develop communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills to solve problems. Here's to a great year. Go eagles!!
