Dear 5th Grade Parents,
Hello! I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you and your fifth grader! I am very excited to begin working with your children. Together we will be taking part in many interesting and meaningful activities throughout the next school year. I am anxious to begin putting names with faces, and hopefully we can work together to provide the best possible educational experience for your child as this year begins!
I would like to share a little about myself. I was born and raised in Lewiston, Idaho and graduated from the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!) with a B.S. in Elementary Education. This is my twenty-fourth year of teaching. After graduation, I moved to Boise and taught at Chaparral Elementary for four years. At Chaparral I had the opportunity to teach both 2nd and 3rd grade in a year-round school setting. After moving to Coeur d’Alene I had the privilege of teaching first grade for five years at Skyway. I recently taught five years of fourth grade at Skyway and nine years of fifth grade. I am very excited for this school year!
As a teacher, I believe that each child is unique, each child has a specific learning style, involvement of families is critical to student success, my classroom programs must be designed to fit the needs of my students, and finally, activities must be both age appropriate and individually appropriate.
I have a beautiful daughter, Lila, who turns 15 this December. Lila is a freshman this year at Lake City High School. My son Luke is 18 years old and will be a senior at Lake City High School this year. My husband is Andy Beaudry. Andy is known as "Mr. Bo" here at Skyway and is our Safety and Security Coordinator. We have 2 rescue dogs (Lucy and Wendell) and a leopard gecko named Bleezy.
I enjoy weekends on the lake, going to Sanders Beach, and stand up paddle boarding. I also enjoy reading, fantasy football, gardening, and spending time with my family. I’m a huge nature lover, avid bird watcher, and love being outside. More than anything, I love working with children and can’t wait to begin what will surely be a wonderful school year!
My classroom is a place of compassion, empathy, and non-judgement. We are all walking this journey through life together and I will do all I can to provide a safe haven for my students each day when they walk through our classroom door. I am looking forward to partnering with you to create a wonderful 5th grade year for your child!
Please feel free to contact me at any time if any questions or concerns may arise. I can be reached at school between 8:15 and 9 a.m. or any time I am not in live sessions with students. Email or the Remind app is the best way to reach me. I will be happy to do all I can to work through any situations that might arise!
I look forward to working with you. What a great year we are going to have! Megan Beaudry
