Hello, and welcome to fifth grade! My name is Travis Ewert. I have known that I’ve wanted to be a teacher my whole life. I have a passion for working with children and find that their wonderment towards learning is unparalleled when put in a supportive and nurturing environment. I have been teaching since 2014; I am married to my beautiful wife Aimee, I have an amazing son, named Jackson, and we have an amazing tiny corgi named Ollie. I graduated from the University of Idaho, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
The classroom environment is a huge factor in student learning and I have found that students respond very well to positive reinforcement. Students who show exemplary work, who respect their classmates and teachers, and who put forth the effort we all know they are capable of, are rewarded with a variety of prizes, praises, and opportunities within the classroom.
One thing your student will find out very quickly within my classroom is the power of “WHY?” I will be asking the students to critically think about the “why?” This forces the students to dig deeper and go beyond the surface and truly search for answers and meaning. This paired with group work and hands-on experiences adds to a dynamic and engaged classroom full of learners.
I firmly believe that student learning is a group effort between the students, the teachers, and the parents. I will keep in touch with you, about things going on in the classroom, the awesome projects your students are doing, and some areas where your student might improve. I am a strong advocate of the open door policy. If at any time you have any questions regarding assigned work, behaviors, or things going on in the classroom, feel free to stop by before or after school, or email me at tewert@cdaschools.org.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to learn with your children, it’s going to be a great year!
Sincerely
Travis Ewert
