Emergency Medical Technician Course (LCHS Campus)

Starting in the Spring Semester of 2025/2026 SY, NIC Work Force Training Center will be offering the EMT Course on Lake City High School's Campus!

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Technician exam. By passing the NREMT exam you will be a Certified EMT. Students must be 18 years old to take the NREMT exam.

What makes this opportunity unique? Students will earn 2 high school credits if they complete this course on Lake City's Campus. It will be a length of 2 periods on the student's schedule during the student's school day. NIC WFT will still require lab time outside of the school day (some Friday after school or Saturdays, schedule will be in syllabus handed out).

Attendance Policy? This program has a strict attendance policy. Students are only allowed 2 absence from a  classroom session and 1 Saturday practical skills day (that cannot be made up) .

What is the cost? Advanced Opportunities is state funding provided to every student in the State of Idaho to be used for a few different opportunities such as Overload Courses, Dual Credit, AP Exams, and Workforce Training. Each Student has access to $4,625 from the state to use through this program. The cost of the EMT course is currently $2,795 and would qualify under the Advanced Opportunities Program. If you do not have enough State Funding to cover the course due to using some of the money prior to the Spring Semester, the difference would be an out of pocket expense in the Spring for the family due to NIC Work Force Training directly.

Application must be submitted by 4/25/2025 to be considered for the upcoming school year.

Emergency Medical Technician

Develop foundational skills to treat sick or injured patients using basic emergency medical equipment.

This program will prepare you to provide pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical services (EMS) system. You will acquire basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life-threatening emergencies. Emergency Medical Technicians are a critical link between the scene of an emergency and the health care system. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight. EMTs perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance.
