Lake City High School - Dual Credit Handbook
Congratulations for choosing the challenge of DUAL credit course(s).
DUAL Credit classes are rigorous and rewarding classes that will give qualifying students an opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. There are several “tracks” students may follow when enrolling in DUAL credit courses. For some students, this could mean completing an Associate’s Degree at the same time they graduate from high school. The DUAL Credit Student Handbook is designed to guide and help students and parents as you navigate through the DUAL Credit enrollment process and understand what it entails to be a DUAL Credit Student.

Goal of an AA while being a Dual Credit Student
When striving to get an AA, students often want to map out what their 2 years may look like.
In order to complete an AA, you need to receive 16 college credits per semester. Summer courses are not mandatory but can help ease course loads in Fall and Spring semesters. Use this tool to help plan out future semesters, course selections, and overall progress tracking. Keep in mind the courses you need to take in order to graduate from HS, any prerequisites, and understand there is a maximum number of credits you can take per semester. In the Fall/Spring you can take up to 18 credits and in the Summer you can take up to 7 Credits.
Please Note: The Advance Opportunity Program provided by the state alots $4,625 to each student, this money will not cover the cost of an AA. The remaining amount that will be owed to a college will be dependent on how many credits, approved exams such as AP exams, approved workforce training programs, and overload courses a student utilizes this money for. Dual Credit Courses currently run $75 per credit, but are always subject to change. It is wise to track this information, stay up to date on the information, and always ask questions. Please also refer to the participation form needing to be signed to participate in this program for the conditions and provisions of the program.
