Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Marcus Ross and this is my 5th year teaching at Lakes! I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the amazing teachers that taught me throughout my middle school career. This school has the amazing capability of making you feel loved, understood, and important. I teach 8th grade math and ALP math. I also am the assistant coach for Cross Country, assistant coach for basketball, and lead coach for sprints and long jump in track.
While I am not in school, I love being active, hiking, or enjoying the outdoors. I am a huge fan of Frisbee golf, basketball, trail running, camping, and surrounding myself around loved ones. I have a new-found love of traveling and learning about new cultures. I recently went to Iceland and loved every minute of it! My next adventure will take place in Belize as I teach literacy to elementary school students! I was born and raised in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho with my 4 brothers and 1 sister. I attended Boise State University and graduated with my degree in Elementary Education with an Endorsement in Mathematics.
As a teacher, my goal is to educate young minds and help influence them to become the amazing leaders I know they are. For my students to enjoy life, become lifelong learners, to be positive, and find beauty in this world. My teaching philosophy is that every student is special and has the ability to bring something new to my classroom. My job is to discover and empower that genius that is within each and every student.
“If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." This quote by Ignacio Estrada
