My name is Lindsey Pooler, and I am thrilled to be your child’s kindergarten teacher at Hayden Meadows. Go Huskies!
I have been teaching since 2009 and have experience in first grade, third grade, and kindergarten. Kindergarten has truly captured my heart. I absolutely love teaching this special year of growth and discovery! I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
I live in Hayden with my husband, daughter, son, and our labradoodle. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy reading, running, and spending time with my family. On most weekends, you will often find me cheering at my daughter’s dance competitions or my son’s soccer games. In the summer, I love being outdoors hiking or boating with my family.
Kindergarten is an important foundational year of learning and growth. What a privilege and joy it is to be a child’s first elementary teacher! I am committed to creating an engaging, rigorous, and content-rich environment where my students feel inspired, safe, and valued.
In our class family, we will spend the year learning school routines, making new friends, and creating meaningful school memories. We will also explore what it means to be learners, thinkers, and kind friends in kindergarten… always striving to do our K best! Our class will set learning goals, work hard to achieve them, and celebrate our accomplishments together. I am looking forward to an amazing school year ahead!
Kindergarten is a year of amazing growth and development! This year, we will:
*learn how to work together in our school community.
*identify letter names and letter sounds.
*print uppercase and lowercase letters.
*learn and apply concepts of print (examples: follow words from left to right, spaces between words,...).
*increase our phonological awareness (examples: hearing sounds in a word, rhyming words,...).
*learn and apply phonics and word analysis skills (examples: one-to-one letter-sound correspondence, reading common high-frequency words,...).
*read a range of texts, then ask and answer questions, retell, compare and contrast, and/or describe relationships within the story.
*read emergent-reader texts!
*participate in shared writing projects and individual writing.
*count to 100.
*identify and write numbers 0-20.
*identify and analyze 2-D and 3-D shapes.
*solve addition and subtraction up to 10, using objects or drawings.
