Workplace Exploration Experience

Mentor Requirements

Mentors play an important role in helping students explore careers and understand workplace expectations. The goal is to provide students with meaningful exposure to a real-world work environment.

Mentor Responsibilities

Mentors are asked to:

  • Introduce the student to the workplace, including basic expectations and culture

  • Allow the student to observe day-to-day work and learn about the role and industry

  • Answer questions and explain tasks, responsibilities, and career pathways

  • Provide guidance, encouragement, and professional insight

  • Offer feedback and help the student reflect on what they are learning

Experience Structure

  • Experiences may include job shadowing, workplace tours, conversations with professionals, or limited hands-on tasks when appropriate

  • Students are supervised by the mentor at all times

  • The focus is exploration and learning, not job performance

This experience is designed to be flexible and low-pressure while giving students an authentic look at a career field and helping them make informed decisions about their future.
