
Workplace Exploration Experience
Hours Requirement
As part of the Future Readiness Project, students are required to complete a minimum of 10 hours of Workplace Exploration Experience during high school. This experience is designed to help students connect classroom learning to real-world skills, explore career interests, and make more informed post-secondary plans.
Hour Requirement Timeline:
Students must complete 10 total hours of Workplace Exploration prior to graduation.
5 hours are completed by the end of your junior year.
The final 5 hours must be completed by the end of fall semester senior year.
What Counts as Workplace Exploration?
Workplace Exploration experiences may include, but are not limited to:
Job shadowing with a professional
Workplace Tours
Interviews
Career-focused mentoring experiences (must be approved by Coordinator)
All experiences should provide students with exposure to workplace expectations, skills, and environments related to potential career interests.
Purpose of the Experience
The Workplace Exploration Experience helps students:
Explore careers of interest in real-world settings
Develop professional skills such as communication, responsibility, and problem-solving
Reflect on how workplace experiences inform post-secondary goals
Build evidence that can be used in their Future Readiness Portfolio and Senior Presentation
Students will be asked to reflect on their experience and may use it as supporting evidence within their portfolio and final presentation.
