Assistant Principal

I am thrilled to be part of the Canfield Middle School family! This year marks my 26th year in the Coeur d'Alene School District, and I couldn’t be prouder to work in such an incredible community with an outstanding staff. My career began at Fernan Elementary as a 2nd grade and K–5 Title I teacher, continued at Canfield as a 7th-grade life science teacher, and then shifted into administration, where I have happily served for the past 15 years.

Originally from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I moved to the Northwest in 1993 and quickly fell in love with this community. My daughters are proud products of our exceptional school system. Sydney, my oldest, graduated from the University of San Diego, where she played basketball in the WCC, and is now a Registered Nurse in Denver, and newly married! My youngest, Aliyah, is in her fifth year of teaching in Montana after graduating from Carroll College, where she majored in Education and played volleyball for the Saints. She and her husband are excited to welcome their first baby in January, and I can’t wait to become a “Mimi!”

When I’m not at work, you’ll likely find me outdoors golfing, biking, boating, skiing, or hiking. We truly live in the perfect place to enjoy the beauty of the Northwest.

Please feel free to stop by the office and introduce yourself. I genuinely enjoy getting to know the families of our students. I’m looking forward to a fantastic school year and celebrating all the incredible things our students will accomplish. Let’s make it a great year!

Kind Regards,

Michelle Johnson
