Donations/Assistance Ideas
Often times families want to know how they can help a teacher, classroom, school, or students.
Here are some ways you can help me in 8th grade ELA:
Assist in grant-writing, fund-raising, or purchasing to make the classroom into a more coffee shop feel by adding a variety of seating choices. I would like to see a handful of standing desks (or attachments to add to desks) and/or chairs that have attached desks and swivel and turn for group work. Two tables for standing that attach to the wall and can be folded up would be amazing! See my Amazon list if you want to buy an item to help me achieve this flexible seating goal.
Donate time or supplies to make-over my stark white walls with colored paint and/or wood boards stained in different colors. My dream is the entire back cinderblock wall covered with wood (old pallets?) stained in different colors with motivational quotes and cool places to hang student work and our unit's focus. One can dream (and hope the district would even allow it)!
Donate student prizes for the prize box/refrigerator: gum, mints, pens, pencils, highlighters, composition books, Kroc day passes, novels, water bottles, healthy snacks (crackers, granola bars, baked chips, fruit leather, water, Gatorades, cheese sticks, Gogurts, chocolate milk, juice, popsicles,) etc.
Donate classroom supplies: dry erase markers, sticky notes, 3 x 5 cards, pens, pencils, highlighters, binder clips, staplers, poster board, electric pencil sharpeners, silver Sharpies, colored copy paper, card stock, tissue, stickers, bleach wipes, art supplies (pastels, water colors) etc. See my Amazon list if you want to buy an item to help me
Volunteer to be a guest speaker pertinent to our curriculum (writing suspense stories, Holocaust, presenting logical arguments on both sides of issues, or The Civil War).
Thanks for sharing your child with me this year!
