Ben Dodson

My name is Ben Dodson, and I am eager and excited to be a member of the Canfield Middle School Science Team. I am a graduate of Lewis-Clark State College where I earned a BS Degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement as a Reading Specialist (K-12 Literacy). This will be my third official year teaching and I can't imagine being anywhere but here at Canfield. I was a student here from 2004-2007, after all!

Through the use of inclusion, hands-on learning, and taking on the role as a mutual learner, I will create an educational environment that not only stimulates the minds of students during class, but also cultivates and nurtures a genuine desire to explore and internalize all that the world around us has to offer.

Please feel encouraged to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have.

Let's get this show on the road!

While, in an official sense, I am known as Mr. Dodson, students often call me Mr. D or, my personal favorite, Mr. Nosdod.

Although I was born and raised right here in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, I am a city boy at heart and just can’t get enough of that amazing New York City atmosphere. There's just something about "the big city" that draws me in.

As far as what keeps me busy outside of the classroom, I enjoy playing tennis, golfing, writing (it doesn't matter what, I just want to keep writing!), reading, going to concerts, gaming (both video games and board games), and grabbing a good meal with friends on the weekends.

I appreciate and take advantage of any opportunity I get to relate my interests to my students' interests. It's important to be engaged in and passionate about what you are studying, so my plan is to try and make that happen each and every day.
