I am so excited to teach first grade this year! This is going to be an exciting year with so much to learn. Most of the students know each other, so we will just pick up where we left off in June! For new students to my classroom, there will be many experts to help adjust if they have any questions. So exciting! 

My hope is that students will rely on each other to expand their knowledge and skills in all areas through collaboration, discussion, modeling, empathy, independence, Thinking Strategies, and so much more. In fact, we will continue to focus on the Thinking Strategy of “Questioning” this year. Using “Questioning” to understand concepts will empower your child to understand concepts at a deeper level. Another big area for our classroom will be “Independence.” This is something I like to foster early on to empower students to take charge of their learning. 

This is my second year at Bryan Elementary! This is going to be an amazing year and I hope you join me in this incredible journey that will take place with your child. Your child will grow both academically and socially and will discover how to use the skills I will teach him/her. If you help your child put the work in now, (please do this, homework is so intentional and also lets you know what concepts and skills your child is working on to master), it will be such a smooth transition to second grade.
