Williamson, Zachary

Hello!

My name is Zachary Williamson, and this is my fifth year teaching at Lake City High School. I teach two sections of Dual Credit English 101/175, three sections of Dual Credit English 102/258, and AP Literature and Composition. This is my ninth year teaching overall, and I have really enjoyed settling into teaching at the secondary level here in Coeur d'Alene.

I graduated from the University of Idaho in 2015 with a B.A. in English with a Teaching Emphasis and a B.S. in Secondary Education. After I completed undergrad, I decided to immediately pursue a Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language at the University of Idaho. During this time, I had the opportunity to teach introductory composition courses and work at the university's Writing Center. I completed my M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language in 2017, and I also completed my M.A. in English Rhetoric and Composition in 2018.  I spent four years total at the University of Idaho teaching a variety of composition courses including: Technical Writing, Rhetoric and Composition, Personal Exploratory Writing, and many others.

In the classroom, I focus my pedagogy on building connections with my students. At the start of the semester, I prioritize building trust with my students by getting to know the learners I share a space with and being open about my own experiences with learning. My classroom community is built on getting to know each of my students on an individual basis so I can maintain and support a positive and constructive classroom environment. It is essential for me as a teacher to get to know the interests, goals, and dreams of the students I am teaching so I can be better prepared to attend to their needs as they go through the rigors and demands of their coursework.

Outside of school, I love to cook and collect vinyl records. Please contact me via email if you have any questions or concerns.
