Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome kinder crew and family!
I am Sarah Devlin, but the kids call me Miss Devlin. I was born and raised in western Montana. I spent most of my childhood in a little town called Polson. It has a beautiful lake just like ours here in Coeur d'Alene. After high school, I attended the University of Montana in Missoula and got my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Child and Family Development. I've worked in various positions that involve kids and students upon graduation. I've been a substitute teacher, a paraprofessional in special education, a behavior support professional, a soccer coach, a kindergarten student mentor/paraprofessional, a program leader in an after school program, a long-term 1st grade substitute, a rehabilitation technician, and now this is my 3rd year as a kindergarten teacher.
I love all things outdoors. I love fishing, hiking, swimming, running, camping, yard games, floating, boating, playing on the playground with my students...you name it! I also love travelling. My favorite trip I have ever taken was on a volunteer trip to New Zealand. We stayed in a remote area of the north island and planted trees as a conservation project. In just two weeks, our group planted nearly 16,000 trees!
I also love morning coffee. ;)
Teaching kindergarten has been my dream since I decided I wanted to become a teacher. The growth that happens in kindergarten is truly amazing. The come in not knowing how to sit at the carpet and most leave reading, writing, and thinking critically. I am so excited and proud to watch students grow each and every year.
