• Dear Canfield Parents & Guardians,

Advanced Opportunities is a program that allows students in grades 7 - 12 take 1 extra course per semester, in addition to their full course load. During the summer, students may take 2 additional courses. Advanced Opportunities will provide $4125 during a student's academic career for overload classes, dual credit classes, credit bearing exams (AP, IB), professional – technical exams (CNA, A+, etc.), or post-secondary scholarships, if a student graduates early.

There are two types of courses offered through IDLA - Flex and Cohort. Flex courses are self-paced with online activity required at least once a week. Cohort courses are traditionally designed with weekly deadlines. NoteFlex courses are not recognized by the NCAA.

In order to use their $4125, we recommend Canfield students enroll in high school level classes for high school credit. Students may still take middle school level courses, but, they cannot use Advanced Opportunities funding, and each course will cost $75. If you have specific questions about which courses to take, please contact your student’s counselor.

Please feel free to call or email us if there is anything we can do to help - thank you!

    Your Counselors,

    Mrs. Hook & Mrs. Sales
