The Fernan Life Skills program is designed for students who function significantly below their age mates in intellectual ability. These students may require ongoing support in the areas of academics, mobility, communication, self-care and self-sufficiency. Academics are presented to each student following their specific individual program. All of the students are included in a general education class with typically developing age mates to foster appropriate modeling. The students also participate in a community based program which includes shopping, swimming and school wide service promoting independence and life long learning.
