Mrs. Jody Hiltenbrand is delighted to be entering her third year at Dalton Elementary School as the principal. Mrs. Hiltenbrand was previously the vice principal and athletic director at Canfield Middle School for three years. Before that, she spent over a year at Ramsey Magnet School of Science as the vice principal. Prior to becoming an administrator, Mrs. Hiltenbrand spent twelve-and-a-half years in the classroom, eleven of which were at Canfield Middle School teaching eighth-grade language arts. She began her teaching career in Buckeye, Arizona, teaching seventh-grade language arts. This year marks her nineteenth year in education.

Mrs. Hiltenbrand was born and raised in Butte, Montana. She is married to a Coeur d’Alene fire captain/paramedic, and they have an eleven-year-old daughter in sixth grade at Canfield Middle School and a nine-year-old son in fourth grade—at Dalton! She and her husband are active in the community and feel blessed to call this area home. Mrs. Hiltenbrand enjoys spending time with friends and family as well as reading, traveling, and exercising. One highlight for her in 2008 was spending three weeks traveling to the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and France.

Mrs. Hiltenbrand has been a Dalton Elementary School parent for the past six years and thinks it is a phenomenal school. She looks forward to working closely with the stellar staff, students, and parents for the 2020-21 school year and remains committed despite the challenges and unknowns given the COVID-19 pandemic. "We will make it through this difficult time," she says. She embraces these words of wisdom by Franklin D. Roosevelt: A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.
