Principal's Message

  • It has been a beautiful fall season, but with the recent rain and cool air, it looks like winter is on its way. Please check out your son/daughter’s clothing as they leave the house to make sure they have enough clothing to keep them warm. It can become awfully cold on our play fields before school, during lunch and after school. At lunch, we will have students go outside to get fresh air on dry days.

As a reminder, please frequently check your student’s grades on Family Access. On November 14th all parents are invited to Student-Led Conferences. On this evening you come to Canfield with your student to spend approximately twenty minutes perusing portfolios (paper and electric) of classroom work that have been compiled throughout the year. We really like this evening as it provides all parents with the opportunity to come into our school. This will be an exciting opportunity to spend some quality time with your child, look at what he/she has been doing in school, and set goals for the remainder of the school year. Our goal at Canfield Middle School is to have every student participate in student-led conferencing and continue to take accountability and responsibility for his/her learning. Once you are done with the student-led portion, all parents are free to tour the building and take a few minutes to speak with each of your student’s teachers. In the coming weeks, we will send home information on times for you to attend. At Canfield we know and understand the importance of parent involvement and hope to see each and every one of you on this evening.

On a final note, our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is working hard to raise funds to support our great school.  The proceeds from fundraisers go to teacher grants and our Pays to Get A’s Assemblies. They will continue to be in touch via Facebook, PTA website and email for upcoming PTA events.

As always, we believe in an open door policy at CMS.  If you should ever have a concern or comment, please don’t hesitate to contact an administrator, teacher, and/or counselor.
