Principal's Message

  • Happy New Year! Please remember to encourage your students to wear warm clothes to school. It is important to stay warm and healthy as we want to see all 840 students here every day, ready to learn.  Speaking of learning, we don’t have much time left in the first semester.   The last day of the first semester is January 24th.  All grade books will be closed after this date for semester one and moved over to semester two. Please keep in mind that students earn credits for each class taken. Students who do not earn all of their credits the first semester will be put on an academic contract for the second semester. This contract will place them on notice for potential summer school enrollment.

During late start Mondays, our staff has really been focusing in on tasks and professional development to meet our building goals. Here are our abbreviated goals:
    1) Canfield Middle School is a welcoming place for staff, students, and parents.
    2) Canfield Staff will challenge all students.
    3) All certified staff will be engaged in professional development opportunities to implement best practices.
    4) All students will show one or more years of growth on their ISATs.
We value this time together as a staff and expect that this time together transfers into our classrooms.

As always, if you should ever have any comments, questions, or concerns, please contact us here at Canfield.  We want to work as a team to make all of our students successful.  Here is to a happy, healthy and successful 2019.

    Sincerely,
    Nick Lilyquist
    Principal
