As I write this final letter of the school year, I find myself wondering where the school year went. As my dad used to say to me, “The days can be long, but the years are short.” Please make sure to review the upcoming dates in this newsletter. All grade levels will be heading out to Silverwood on Thursday, June 6 to celebrate the end of school year (last full day of school). Classroom/unit tests and projects will still take place the last week of school until Silverwood Day. Most of our subjects no longer give EOCAs (End-of-Course Assessments); instead they break these questions down into smaller assessments given throughout the semester. However there are many culminating projects taking place to wrap up the school year.
As we conclude the 2018-2019 school year, I want to make sure to give thanks to a few people:
- Thanks to our terrific teaching staff. Best wishes to the following retires who have been so valuable to our school: Certified Teacher- Pam Bright (vocal music); Special Ed. Paraprofessional- Paula Moore. Thank you to Misty Tondu and Nickie Wilson who are leaving to pursue other opportunities. Thank you to our paraprofessionals, custodians, kitchen, and front office staff for their diligence and hard work.
- Thank you to our top-notch students. A vast majority of our students come to school each day working hard and wanting to do the right thing.
- Thanks to our outstanding PTA for their time and support. Their time spent volunteering is another factor in making a Canfield a great place to work.
- Finally, thanks to all of our parents and families. We appreciate your support of our school.
I hope we have a summer filled with nice weather that you can all enjoy with friends and family. To our 8th grade families, best wishes in high school. For our 6th and 7th grade families, we will see you all in August.
