• Ms. McGrath       Hi, Welcome to sixth grade science (eschool style). This is a new adventure for all of us, and I am excited to be a part of this new learning platform. Because this is new, I have no doubt we will all have our struggles, as well as successes. I hope we can show each other grace and patience while we get the hang of this. I have learned a lot about schoology over the past couple of days, and I think you are really going to like it once you get familiar with it. It has a lot of great features that google classroom did not. I realize that learning a new computer program can feel like a difficult task for some, while being exciting for others.  My goal is to help you make as smooth of a transition as possible, although I have no doubt many of you will pick it up fast! I also have no doubt some of you may teach me a thing, or two about it as the year goes on!

We were asked to share with you a little about ourselves, so here goes:  My name is Kathy McGrath- you can all me Ms. McGrath or Ms. McG. I just tell you my first name, because I have a sister who also teaches in the district, and she also goes by Ms. McGrath - her first name is Kerry. I have been a teacher with the Coeur d Alene School District for 16 years. I have had the wonderful experience of teaching at all three middle schools, and really love teaching at the middle school level. I currently teach at Woodland Middle School and have taught Science for the past eight or nine years; which is perfect for me, because I absolutely LOVE Science! A few of my hobbies are: biking, hiking, kayaking, listening and dancing to music, traveling, and playing with my two year-old granddaughter Juni.

This year, I will be teaching four science classes, in person, at Woodland Middle School, and one class on line through eschool. I will have a set time every day to check in with this class, so please be patient with me if I do not get back to you right away. The best way to get a hold of me is through email. My email address is kmcgrath@cdaschools.org. You can also send emails through schoology - it is nice feature. My goal this year is to provide you with interesting science lessons, and include some hands-on activities and labs that you can do at home. Most of my lessons will use a google slide format that includes vocabulary, images, and videos. Sometimes, I like to include vidoes that are both educational and entertaining - well, entertaining may be a stretch becomes some are cringe worthy, but that is part of the fun!

I look forward to getting to know you!
